  President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria General Mohammadu Buhari on Friday signed six(6) Bills into Law. Responding to State House Correspondents, the senior special assistant to the President on National Assembly matter(senate),Ita Enang confirmed that the bills were signed into law by the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
  Speaking further,he disclosed the following as the Bills signed into law;

 In the light of recent development in Nigeria regarding the brutality of the Nigerian Security Agencies in their dealings with civilians,and the subsequent clamour by Nigerians for the scrapping of "Sars",the Anti-torture Act 2017 is indeed a welcome development and hopefully it will go a long way in safe gaurding the rights of nigerians as enchrined in the constitution. According to Ita Enang, "The Anti-Torture At 2017 makes comprehensive provisions for penalising the act of torture and other Cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment or punishment and prescribes penalties for the commission of such acts".
 Similarly,He explained that the Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshot Act 2017 provided for the compulsory treatment of victims of Gunshot and for related matters. According to him, a person with Gunshot wound shall be received for immediate and adequate treatment by any hospital in Nigeria with or without initial monetary deposit. Futhermore, A person with Gunshot wound shall not be subjected to inhuman and degrading treatment or torture by any person or authority including the police and other security agencies.
